Bike rack (3 bikes) Octavia 2019?

Recommended Posts

Others have posted about suitable racks here

I tend to follow the roof bar solution rather than a rear hanging rack. I to have had damaged paintwork and near misses with the hooks catching the glass edge of the hatch. Luckily it didn't break, but other have not been so fortunate. Other than that maybe a tow hitch cycle mount, but they always look unstable to me.

Ok, thanks. It's 2019 model so mk3 hatch. I don't have a tow bar, tried to put on a Buzz rack but couldn't attach it properly. So looks like I'll have to look at a roof rack.... Any recommendations for good value ones?

Having tried all the various options over the years across a few different cars I can honestly say that a tow bar rack is the best overall.

Easier to get the bikes on and off, doesn't affect the fuel economy too much (the roof mounted guzzles a load of extra fuel) and they're very stable.

You also have the advantage of a tow bar should you need to tow a trailer at any point etc.

I paid £480 for a tow bar.

For bikes I always use Thule roof and bike racks. Just bought an Upride which clamps round the bike's front wheel!
