Columbus Sound System

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I'd appreciate some help with my audio problem. I have found myself in a situation where I have two Superbs. The 'keeper' has a Kenwood head unit and standard sound, the other has a columbus and the factory 'sound system' speakers.

I don't really get on with the Kenwood unit so I'm moving that to the car I will eventually sell.

STEP 1

I have swapped the Columbus over and have no sound, I assume this is because I have no amp for it to talk to? Is this a matter of coding to sound output again, at least for the timing being?

STEP 2

It might be nice to get the upgraded speakers into the keeper, as I have all the parts around me, so If I swap speakers, then what else am I going to need to swap?

I'm thinking door harnesses, amplifier and wiring for the amp.

Would it just be a matter of unpicking the amp wiring and stitching that into the other car, coding correctly and off we go?

Thanks all

Indeed, it's a question of coding only to get sound in your 'keeper'.

Start with just the door speakers.

Thanks, I better get hold of some kit to code it up then.

Your comment on door speakers, is that in reference to swapping everything over?

Yes... being in your shoes I would start with speakers upgrade. I recommend Gladen One 165 SQX (version for Golf VI).

Ahh gotcha, code in and install some nicer speakers.

Thanks for the advice.

To @PeeMac - I am not sure if this help but when I change my Audio/Video Head Unit I have no sound too and here in this Forum I found a solution - disconnect the car battery for 30 Minutes and then connect again and my sound appears :)

Thanks, it won't hurt to give it a try at least.

So I've got myself access to VCDS, however I'm unsure what I should actually input into the coding. I've tried a few combinations and still have no sound.

Any clues please?

Scratch that. Looks like I got it right.

Came back to the car 30mins later and its all working. Seems like the module needed to reboot.
