Change of Automatic box fluid

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 DSG estate. Its done about 23000 (not a typing error only 23000). Its due for a minor service which I have carried out by the dealer on a service plan. I feel sure when I phone for appointment they are going to suggest a change of fluid in DSG box. It hasn't ever been changed.

Because the car is 7 years old should I have it done.

I would welcome your comments.

Best say what engine you have, so we know what DSG.  If you have a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG there is no oil change required.   If that is what you have then for some there is a Software update started from 2017 on ones 2013-2015. FREE, SKODA pay for that.   It is a Service Campaign item.  That is 34h5 and a main dealer can tell you if required.   If you have a 6 speed wet clutch DSG the service interval is at 40,000 miles and at a main dealer is currently £215.   You would not require this at only 23,000 miles.  So basically 'no servicing required on your DSG.   Maybe Brake Fluid change required. That is at 3 years and each 2. But they can check for H2O content.

Had the brake fluid changed last year. Its a 2 ltr  TA diesel automatic.

Thanks for responding.

To @BobH38 - Change the "DSG"-Oil. 7 Years is long time for one oil..

Maybe worth having changed, personally i would not be having it done though.

The single oil used in the Wet Clutch DSG's is Hygroscopic as are many Oils / Fluids but really 7 years is nothing.

After all, the 2 oils that the DQ200's have in from the factory are supposedly 'Filled for life'. But then the life according to VW can be short.
