Can I use Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ or do I need VCDS?

Featured Replies

Hello, just bought a Superb MkIII and wondered about coding (in particular defauting the Auto-start/Stop to off) and reading error codes.  I have a Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ Bluetooth ODBC which I used to use with the BimmerCode app on my old BMW.  Can this adaptor be used for Skoda or do I need to buy the VCDS cable and software? If I can use it, which app is best?

Thanks.

It seems to be this: https://www.veepeak.com/product/obdcheck-ble-plus/

Veepeak lists compactivity with Carista which in turn is suitable for a MK3 Superb: https://caristaapp.com/vehicles/skoda/superb/mk3

I've never used Carista so I'm not sure how user friendly or powerful it is. It's probably fine for checking error codes but I'd be wary of any automated coding changes.

I don't think it's possible to 'reverse' stop/start but you may be able to disable it completely depending what year the Superb is. Most people seem to use a stop/start memory module that effectively presses the button for you ;)

Thanks for the info, I will look at Carista. I have not used that before.  So what is a 'memory module'?  Is it a feature of VCDS... forgive my ignorance?

No, it's a piece of hardware that you buy and wire into the car - basically if you want the stop/start off then when you turn the ignition on it automatically presses the button for you.

Well I never, I didn't that that would be the solution! On the bimmer it was just a case of coding it off by default.  Thanks for the tip, not sure I have the appetite for such a mod yet though!

... and that was true on some VAG vehicles a few years ago, but after 'Dieselgate' VAG have closed down their systems to avoid further accusations of emissions cheating, and as start/stop does reduce emissions in the official tests then disabling it falls into that category.

Ahh, I see.  Thanks for the info... good to understand the context.  For now, I think I'll just press the button!
