Painting Hubs.

Featured Replies

Recently fitted some new wheels, so i thought, hubs need tidying up, rust, shouldn't take long, whip wheel off, paint hub, put wheel back on.

Now this is my first DSG, on a Scout, and didn't really think about it till i got the paint out.

How do i paint where the brake calipers are, put wheel back on, put two bolts back in, drop jack, move car, jack car back up, take wheel off, paint hub, put wheel back on, bolts back in, drop jack, all this on four wheels.

I may be missing something here, is it more simple than that? 🤔

Your not painting the discs :)  It’s easy enough to paint the hub without moving anything.

Remove the little securing bolt and spin the disc on the hub. Simples :)

If the DSG is in neutral, surely you can just spin the disc round?

So its ok to put DSG in neutral without runnig engine, and not getting all the signs come up on dash telling you how stupid you are.

I believe so - unless someone knows better?

Even in park there is a good chance if you lift both front (or back) wheels off the ground, spinning one will cause the other to spin in the other direction :)

Hi L, dont want to get too complicated, two wheels off the ground 🤔

If you use a sensible sized brush and have not enlisted a 5 year old to do the painting you should be able to paint the bit inbetween the caliper no bother.;)
