Horn not working! How to fix it?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have skoda octavia mkII hatchback diesel 2008

My horn doesn't work for a while (airbag light also on)

I replaced the clock spring and doesn't help

I removed the horn and it seems ok ( it beeps with power supply (a little low but I think its fine)

Nothing was connected to the horn seems like the wire  broke down and can't find it

I don't know if the airbag and the horn are related but I want to try and make a new circuit from the wheel horn and see if that work..

How can I do it? Where can I get the signal from the wheel?

The horn fuse wasnt bad and I didnt find anywhere if there is any horn relay

Thanks!!

Airbag and horn are related.
Getting the airbag code read will probably point you very close to the problem with the horn, if its not the same exact part causing both

Hi thanks, I tried to red with some cheap ass obd reader and didn't find anything about the airbag only egr

Anyway - I have to find the signal cable and see if there is 12v

How can I find it? Or how can I make a new one from the fuse?

The horn is driven from the comfort control module,m(ight be called the body control module) from the horn push input t the clockspring module via canbus, gone are the days when you could simply hot wire things to fault find.

When the clockspring was replaced was it coded correctly (or at all!) and was the airbag fault code deleted after powering up?

Ok and you have any idea how to find in the engine bay the wires from the steering wheel?

Where are they come from?

Clockspring has to be programmed? Isn't it just a bunch of rolled wires?

Anyway a mechanic did it I don't know if he progrramed (I bet he didn't anyways)

Fault code doesn't show up in obd scan but airbag light still on

Therefore there is still an actual or uncancelled fault. A shareware VCDS might help.

Is there any relay I can check?

Basic OBD readers do not read anything other than the engine. You need to get the airbag module and probably the steering column module scanned by a proper diagnostic machine like vcds, snap-on, bosch, autel that can access those systems

Ok thanks I will check it with someone who have this reader.

Meanwhile, Is there any relay that I can check?, is there any easy way to separate the wires that needs to come to the horn? (like which color are they? where do they come from? is it from the fuse box? how to trace them?)

Thanks!!
