I disconnected the battery earth with the alarm on; alarm went off! How , with the battery earth disconnected?

The alarm siren has it,s own battery. This can eventually need replacing. Skoda sometimes show that as a 5th year Service item but obviously they can last twice that or more.

Eight years of ownership and I did not know that. Always something to learn on this forum.

We bought our Scala Monte Carlo Edition 1.5 tsi back in December and from late January it has had both mechanical problems and electronic gremlins. The mechanical problem have mostly been sorted, new rear discs and pads that were making noises like a wheel bearing was rumbling, the gearbox has had a software update and a reset (it's still not perfect). And the road noise is just the high dB tyres and lack of sound insulation. The electronic gremlins were put down to a failing 12v battery which

Hoping to purchase a 2.0l TSi Sportline/Laurin & Klement variant at some point soon. My budget may result in me seeking out a vehicle with 95K onwards on the clock. I’ll be only considering something with a full comprehensive service history. My understanding is that I shouldn’t worry about cam chain tensioners as they go on and on. But do they? So is there anything I should really looking out for? Thanks

Replacing rear shocks

Evening. I am replacing the rear struts at the weekend, weather permitting. My question is, is it ok to torque the bolts whilst the car is still on its axle stands and not in the loaded position, like the the control arm bolts, when I replaced the springs, I cannot see how to do it when the wheels are back on? Is there a way to mimick load/compression? Have drop links to do at the same time, if I have time. Any advice welcome.
