UK based Superskoda alternative?

Featured Replies

Seems like due to the joy of Brexit we can no longer order items from SuperSkoda in the UK.

Any suggestions?  I'm specifically after a black Grille surround to replace the chrome one  which was a pretty reasonable 80 Euros with the new badge on there but struggling to find anything like it in the UK, just some really expensive honeycomb grilles on Ebay.

Cheers!

You can still order from SuperSKoda (now renamed Kopacek) BUT the items must be small enough to be sent by Royal Mail (not a courier) and if the cost is above a certain value then HMRC will charge Import Duty (not sure about VAT as well?).

So small relatively low value items can still be ordered as before, and small higher value items will be subject to additional taxation.

Yeah that's the issue - I'm after a Radiator Grille!

I don't know that this will work, but it may be possible to strip the chrome with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, then paint the surround with black enamel.

Every time I check prices for parts like that on Superskoda and Ebay sellers in every case they have been more expensive, often significantly more than TPS.

That said the grille surround is expensive for what it is, mine was accident damaged, I bought the inner grille from TPS, far cheaper than Superskoda but repaired & painted the chrome outer, it has not been a success as there are lots of stonechips and/or automatic car wash damage.

If Mr Muscle is strong enough to remove the chrome finish it wont do the plastic underneath any favours. I stand corrected, Google agrees with you!

I wouldn't trust Google that much as such, unless they explain about "chrome" plated plastic actually being aluminium, and soluble in caustic solutions?

They've got the exact part though at Superskoda....

There's no chance I'm doing any DIY fixes/paints/plastidip stuff though I just want the bit of plastic in the right colour to clip on!

We got the grille surround painted race blue to match the car at a local paint shop. You should be able to pick a surround up at a scrap yard cheaply and get it painted for about £50.

...and you have no way of getting them to ship it to Englandshire. If you did, I'd not have mentioned the DIY route.

Yeah I get that - I was asking if anyone knew of somewhere UK based that sold aftermarket Skoda parts.
