The soft close on my electric tailgate has started to misbehave. It closes, the motor winds it shut and latches. about 7 secs later the motor releases and the tailgate opens about 5mm. The car is still locked and the dash shows the tailgate as shut. So I don;t think the problem is in the tailgate mechanism. I feel it must be to do with the pin. Anyone had the problem? If so, what was the problem and how did you resolve it. Please see att

I seem to have fixed this. At minimal cost. I was able to eliminate the boot catch. So felt it was either going to be a Control Unit, or the motorised Striker Pin. As it was intermittent felt it was more likely to be the Pin.  Simply replaced the motorised striker plate. Part number 4F9 827 383 G direct from China £50. Easy job. Three screws and panel clips hold the silver trim in place across the car. 2 bolts hold the striker plate in place. Electrics simply plug in so was able to test the replacement without actually installing it. All worked fine, so was able to change it over. 15 minute job. We will see how it goes. Fingers Crossed.
