Server 2003 DC Sysvol replication Problem.

Featured Replies

Trying to add a new 2003 domain controller at work. After DCPROMO the Sysvol and netlogon shares are not created. This is followed by Event ID's 13508 saying the usual " FPRS is having trouble replicating from Server A to Server B etc etc.

and Event ID 13656. FPRS is intialzing the system data from another dc etc etc.

All entries in the DNS seem ok.

So trying to go down the route of using the Burflags registry key to reinitialize the FPRS to rebuild the SYSVOL.

Trouble is the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Cumulative Replica Sets\GUID\BurFlags" on the PDC does not exist. The GUID is not there.

Anyone know why its not there and is their a work around?

Cheers

Is this new server on the same VLAN as the other domain controllers (so there are no routers or firewalls between them?)

Is there anything in the file replication service logs on the other domain controllers?

No firewalls etc. Same lan.

Nothing in the event log of the other server (lets call it A) I'm trying to replicate with. We do have 1 other domain controllers (call it B) but its buggered. Cannot replicate the default domain controller group policy. Get event ID's 1058. Cannot access file gpt.ini for GPO etc.

Tried to fix the above with no joy. Thats why I'm trying to add a new dc. If it works then I plan on demoting Server B. Clean up the dns etc. Then rejoin it.

Maybe the problem lies with Server A, and your current Server B is fine but unable to replicate with A also. Server B above maybe generating the errors because its already a DC, and your new server in the first post cannot dcpromo for the same reason that B cant replicate.

Its looking that way.

Both Servers A and B do not have Replica Sets in the registry. Yet my new server does.

Well setting up a couple of test servers to have a play about...
