2018 Service History, how do I find it?

Featured Replies

Hello all, still the proud owner of a Mk2 2004 Octavia, going strong.  Just looking at a 2018 1.4TSI SE DSG.  I have been told there is no paper record of the service history,  is this correct?  All electronic?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge in advance.

So apologies to all,  I have searched further and found out current Skoda policy.  As a technologist of 4 decades I can honestly say it is the most awful decision.  Creates a monopoly for main dealers. Downloaded and tried the "app" tonight.  Awful, why does Skoda need to know my location? A folder of documents, even if provided and easily accessible within the infotainment system would be great.  This approach also limits the ability of excellent independent garages to demonstrate that a car has been serviced.   Rant over!

A Skoda Dealership or Skoda UK Customer Services can give the Service & Warranty & Recall History that is held on the system, just ask.

As to anything done outwith the network then that has to be still on paper form if you are lucky enough to get that.

Some Licensed Independents can put on the system.

It is about 10 years since the service books were stopped being provided with a New Skoda so hardly worth going off on one about it now.

Back then the Body Checks for Paint & Corrosion were supposed to be done annually or bi-annually and there was a page after the Service for the Tech to complete.

That stopped being done in many cases, if it ever was done, and now Skoda UK says 'No record of body checks;,  well the Warranty T%C's do not say there should be Body Checks,

but Skoda UK Fixed Price Service & Maintenance Menus say there are 'Body and Glass inspections' as part of Oil & Inspection Services and Extended Scope.

It feels wrong at first, but you can get a full hard-copy print-out from any Skoda dealer, so you can have a paper copy if you want it.

More importantly, if you're looking to buy a used Skoda, you can check the service history with the Skoda dealer network, and avoid the risk of buying a car with a fake service history.

A point to consider is,

Even a Skoda Approved Used Car with a FMDSH can mean you get a Full Service History that shows how little Skoda Main Dealers Servicing might include.

Even cars with a Service Plan might not be serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations,

so you get a car 3 years old or more and the Brake Fluid change was not done at 3 years, the pollen filter was not changed at 2 years,

the Haldex if serviced at 3 years or sooner might not have had the pump / filter cleaned. the VAQ might not be serviced, even the DSG might not have had an oil change at 40,000 miles.

Yet even though not serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations they put a Warranty on that Approved Used Car.
