Passenger wing mirror

Featured Replies

Hello all, my first post, I have a Superb MkIII (2017), as I was reversing out of the garage I forgot to retract the mirrors, and "snaps" the internal metal part of the wing mirror, everything else of the wing mirror is functioning.

It partially hangs a bit, so I was hoping to try and glue the internal metal bit to get an extra bit of life from it before I need to spend £300+ to replace it.

I've looked on YouTube and haven't been able to find any videos on replacing a wing mirror.

My question is how do I remove the wing mirror?

What internal metal part? Do you mean the mirror glass or the metal tang on the back of the mirror glass?

A picture might help

This may be of use...

Thanks for replying, sorry I forgot about posting photos. Is this photo clear enough? The arrow is pointing where it's snapped away.

I think to remove the mirror you'll have to remove the internal door trim in the area where the mirror is to expose the bolts that hold the mirror and unplug the loom.

Before you splash out £300+ for a new mirror check for a second hand one first.  Try eBay or any of the online car breakers for a price. If the ideal mirror isn't available (wrong colour, or some damage)  you might still be able to use some of the undamaged parts from your mirror along with a secondhand one to make up a good one for the car.

Thanks that's my next thinking, the only part that's broken is the metal plate that attaches to the car door, motors, mirror and housing are all ok. If I can get the mirror I'll be able to temporarily fix it or get the scrap part.

Also, a new one will come with primer, so you would need to spray it to match the existing colour
