Hi can anyone help, I have a Octavia Estate on a 2008 (58) it has a set of 15 inch alloys on at the moment. Would I be able to swap them for a set of 2017 superb 16 inch alloys ?

Welcome.

Bear in mind that when you fit a different size of rims that if you fit the appropriate tyres you can have the same total diameter / circumference as the OEM wheels / tyres.

Just as manufacturers do when they offer different wheel sizes, or when they give sizes for winter / that can have snow chains fitted to.

DavidB123 thanks for that information I appreciate your help, I think I’ll give them a miss then and just get mine refurbished 👍

@Nathan1 I thought your question was regarding the stud pattern (PDC) & Centre Bore and Offset suiting an early Octavia with Mk3 Superb Wheels.

I do not know the answer.

Someone here will without needing to google the answer.

But 16" Rims fitted instead of 15" is perfectly OK as long as the correct fitment of wheels and the correct tyre size.

and the speedometer may not give a true reading.

That depends on the tyres fitted, with a 2" larger wheel you need to fit tyres with a 1" lower sidewall to maintain the same rolling diameter.

It's this need for lower profile tyres that causes the worse ride.

So mine are 205/60/15 and new ones are 215/60/16

At a glance that looks bad - wider tyres and larger wheel. Confirmed when you paste those details into a tyre size calculator such as https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ and you'll see that's really bad as the diameter is 6% greater.

You need to use 215/50/16 tyres instead.

The rule of thumb is to stay within 2%.

Sorry I mean mine are 205/60R15

205/60R15 is a less common and more expensive tyre size than 205/55R16.

205/55R16 is Europe's most popular car tyre size.

The standard 16" rim size on the Octavia MK2 is 6.5Jx16 ET50.
