I've been looking at the power steering fluid.

 

The only place I can see below the battery near the wing strange place to be?

Yes most have the filler caps hidden under the battery box because the combined pump/reservoir unit is under the N/S/F wheelarch and the lid pokes through a hole in the inner wing.

The reservoir is on top of the pump incase you haven't seen it. If you undo the inner wheel arch liner, you'll see the whole assembly. As shown above.
