New car warranty questions

Featured Replies

Firstly, daft question and I can’t see why there should be but any warranty issues with getting the car serviced several  (7 - 8) weeks early?  It ties in with where I’ll be and means I don’t have to take the car up to the Inverness VW dealer in early Jan.  The warranty t&cs just refer to as per servicing schedule.  Anyone heard of any warranty problems with getting services done early?

Secondly, for the 3rd year of the overseas section of the new car warranty it’s pay and claim when travelling outside the UK.   That’s weird enough but it has this clause in there: In order for reimbursement to be possible the repair invoice must be returned to a UK Authorised Repairer within 14 calendar days of the invoice date.  Seriously?  We’re planning 2 x 7 week trips to France year so if I need to have something done can this be done remotely via email & pic?  Anyone any experience of this?

No problem at all, but bear in mind (as I'm sure you have) you'll be resetting the timer for the next service from the time of the early service.

Read the T&C's carefully. Tell Sales and Service Desk staff to as well.

Skoda have not said 'Service Schedule.'

Reason being many Service Plans / Skoda Approved Used cars etc are not as per Service Schedule.

Skoda / VW never make Recommendations clear and certainly not 'Schedules',  Dealership staff can make them up as they go along.

They might not have the DSG done or the Haldex or Brake Fluid done.

So 'Manufacturers Recommendations.

Nothing wrong with servicing early.   They are Recommendations.
