Lowering the Toledo (rapid)

Featured Replies

Hi guys

so after a year or two I’ve done a few bits to the Toledo (same as rapid)

lowering springs off a member (30mm eibach I think)

full 2.5” stainless with downpipe

forge induction kit

stage 1 remap going for stage 2 soon

however the ride quality on the springs isn’t as nice as I’d hoped and as suspension will be 9 years old in January I’m thinking a full refresh

so the coil overs listed for the Toledo/rapid nh are basically 1300 plus which is a bit out of budget for a car worth 2300

Can I use coil overs for a polo 6r as they share the same bits (so I’ve heard but lost info)

what about the Ibiza 6j?

stance+ are yet to get back to me but not looking crazy low so if there’s an option out there (Ie- Koni shocks and reuse springs) for less than 500 I’d be interested in that too

have to do a few bushes here as they are creaking and already been lubed (lol) but creaking came back after a few months so any info on upgraded bushes would be great too

looking a decent ride quality, not harsh and back breaking but preferably not too bouncy either

cheers

I just installed lowering springs with Bilstein B4 shocks and ride quality is not the best. It's bit bouncy with Eibach springs but with H&R springs it can get pretty damn rough. Obviously need proper shocks. I ordered Koni STR.T shocks from Ebay, they were 400€ total. They are compatible with lowering springs. I don't have them just yet so I can't comment on how good they are but I have seen people praise them with lowering springs. Anyway parts number for Koni front struts is 8750-1114 and rear shocks is 8050-1017.

I can't comment too much on Polo parts compatibility but I think Mk5 Sedan should be using same struts and shocks.

Happy days mate thanks for info

ive recently learned that they share the platform with mk6 Jetta and partially with polo so I’ll be digging a little deeper into the coilover side

price of stance + coils plus fitting is around 440 so can’t be too angry with that I guess
