Climatronic A/C: blower/fan always running?

Featured Replies

Is the blower/fan always supposed to be running? Is it not supposed to automatically switch on/off?

The blower/fan in my car is always running. Drove for over a hour the other day and I could hear the blower/fan the entire time. In the loaner (Skoda Octavia Columbus) that I had before, I did not notice the sound from the blower/fan (and yes, it was switched on ;)).

My climatronic settings (Bolero):

- Automatic mode ON and operating power LOW

- A/C ON

- Recirculated air mode OFF

- Automatic air recirculation mode OFF

There's supposed to be a "humidity sensor" somewhere. Could it be faulty? Any ideas on how to check it?

If you have auto selected the fan speed will vary as required, but in any car I’ve had with climate, the fan has never turned off.

Yes. How hard depends on the demand and ambient temperatures.

Thanks for the feedback! The sound from the blower/fan was a bit more tolerable today. Maybe changing the A/C setting in Individual mode to Eco improved things.

It's kind of illogical though that the button for Automatic mode (in the climatronic settings) has a sub menu for operating power (select Low, Medium or High). I mean what's automatic about that? Should not the system determine the operating power once you've activated automatic mode?

The Low, medium and high are to set the automatic meet your preference.

I use mostly Low, but when i know its damp or i've got snowboards with me i set it to medium or high.

It still keeps the automation on but i can set the overall "strenght" higher.

I don't know if this answers your question bur in my Octy 4 SE, I have a mechanical switch beneath the display panel marked 'Clima' . Press the switch and I can control the fan speed from OFF to FULL.  If you change the fan speed the 'Auto' control is 'off' but the auto temperature control still works.

The fan is also loud if any vent is closed, the sound drops a lot once you open one.

Weird. I can't turn the fan OFF. At the lowest setting on the scale you're referring to, the fan is still running. I believe there are about 6 different settings on that scale but the two rightmost does not increase the fan speed compared to the third rightmost.

The only way I can completely turn off the fan is by pressing the "CLIMA OFF"-button (top right corner I think).
