Fabia, is it just me?

Featured Replies

I have a 1.2 64hp Fabia Ambiente with 700miles on it. There are a few things niggling me about it's running.

1. When trying to pull away there is a pause between pressing the accelerator and the engine revving which results in stalling if not anticipated.

2. When lifting off to slow down there is a very noticeable hesitation before the revs drop and the car begins to slow down.

3. At idle (about 850rpm) the car vibrates, it feels as though the engine is using some kind of anti-stall to prevent it stopping.

These are my only issues with what is otherwise an excellent car. Are they just me or do you think that is there a problem I should have investigated?

Thanks in advance

Simon

1 and 2 are down to the Drive By Wire (DBW) throttle that is used which means there is a lag in response (although I've never stalled as a result of it so it may indicate a problem).

For 3, yes I think the car does have an anti-stall (the diesel certainly does) but it shouldn't be vibrating at idle with the clutch depressed....

It may be due to the electronic accelerator? If so a characteristic of the car... As for the 850RPM - sounds a little low?

But I wouldn't know... Someone will be along soon far more knowledgable than me

Welcome to Briskoda in the meantime...

Beaten to it...!

Hi,

Welcome to Briskoda.. I also have a 1.2 64bhp Ambiente that has now covered 3000 miles since March this year. I have never noticed any lag at all when pressing the accelerator and don't get the hesitation when lifting off. Also no vibration when the car is at idle. My parents own a VW Polo with the identical engine and its the same as my Skoda, no lag etc although it did go through a phase of rough running, IIRC they had a lambda? sensor changed under warrenty and it cured it. As you will guess I am certainly not an expert but it does sound like your car could do with a check over when compared to the way mine seems to run. Hope you get it sorted as its a superb little car, gets better with every drive!

i have this vibrating at idle problem with my 1.4 8v comfort i had it checked and everything was fine and there was nothing they could do about it!

Thanks for the replies, I think I will get down to the dealers and drive another one to see if it is any different.
