High consumption at idling

Featured Replies

Hello!

The car now is working fine, too little or none black smoke, very efficient consumption at highway( 2.7L per 100km at 80-85km/h), BUT when i am no moving,  at idling, i found  the consumption little high, about 0.5L per hour when i have seen others with 0.3L per hour.

And when i put the AC goes up to 0.8  when the ones that runs at 0.3 goes up only to 0.6 when they turn on the AC

The fuel consumption at idle is de minimis and not measurable with any accuracy, I think its actually a calculated value based on the outputs from the various engine sensors, almost as much fuel flows back to the tank via the cooler as is delivered from the tank.

You should use the values as a comparator only.

Regarding the aircon consumption, low refrigerant will take more engine torque than a fully charged system, you do not know what the ambient temperature and required cooling temp was of the other vehicles you cite so do not know how much work the system was doing, also a larger vehicle and/or a larger system capacity will draw more power to cool.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

Yes, what you mention is a good point, but i used of reference the same vehicle.

Whe my car was reading 0.3Lph at iddle, the AC [with the same configuration] only drawn 0.2 extra Lph, but after inyection pump adjustment (to the right parameters, according the computer), the car was little.more efficient at driving speeds but less efficient at idle and the AC drawn 0.3 extra instead 0.2 when the car was idling  at 0.3.
