Brakes ESP and instrument back lights

My 2010 Fabia flagged up an ESP problem and at the same time the instrument backlights stopped working.  On stopping the car the front wheels were roasting hot.  On checking into a garage with binding brakes a calliper was changed and everything seems fine - no more binding brakes - however the instrument back lights are still off though they will come on if I put the car lights on.  Any ideas about this oddity??
