When doing all the deletes/simplifies.............

Featured Replies

I'm talking about the PCV, SAI/N249/N112 and EVAP and VAC lines..

Is it easier to tackle them all at once or go through them one chunk at a time?

I've been reading through Bowders how2's for weeks now and it kinda looks like it'd be easier, overall, to do it all at once. But working out where they cross over, if you're relying on the guides, looks tricky.

Also... has anyone put together a parts list?

I think I have most of what I need - I've had the SAI and N-valves software deleted so no resistors are required, the rest is just pipes, plugs and clips byt the look of it...

Bump, would like advise on this also.

I can sort of tackle some of this now...

As well as Bowders guides on here, also have a read of this https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/diy-ultimate-sai-n249-pcv-evap-delete.4893472/ (but use Bowders)

I did all mine over 3 days. It was too hot to do it in one hit and I did cop a bit of sunstroke... but you could do it in a day.

Some of it overlaps a bit but you can work your way through SAI, then N-valves, then EVAP. You do bolt and unbolt a few things - well, I did.

I was head scratching a bit until I had my hands on it, the SAI pump won't come out until you undo the bracket that's holds it up.

I had, to hand,

2 metres of 19mm hose for the pcv and a catch can.

20 x 20-32mm jubilee clips (there was a few over)

1 tee, 2 elbows for the above https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222973159534?var=521778370377 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222973159534?var=521778370378 (

1m 13mm hose

1m 8mm hose and some clips for this too.

1m 3mm vacuum tubing - to connect the DV to the inlet manifold.

New dipstick tube.

One of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203291533297 (coolant flange, the CTS sits in it)

There's an elbow under the inlet manifold - part #06A103213F you'll need an o-ring if it doesn't come with it (I also bought a new clip)

A few holes will need plugging up... 1 in the TIP, 10mm bolt for that iirc and 2 need capping off out of the inlet manifold - underneath... I've just jammed some pipe on there and stuck a bolt in for now. I want to run a boost gauge from one of them.

Oh... plugging up the hole on the airbox too... that's a big hole. I siliconed a piece of acrylic over it from the inside - there's probably a picture on my thread..

Think most confusing, for me, was that I expected everything to be at the front of the engine and it wasn't. Once I found everything it wasn't too bad.
