Boot panel removal

Featured Replies

Hi all just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the boot panels in the roomster. The black side panels. I cant find info or videos anywhere. Please help 😊

A fiddly but not too difficult job. You have to remove quite a lot of stuff in order to eventually remove the side panels.

You'll need a long trim removal tool to pop out some of the more difficult to reach plastic/metal fasteners. Just wrenching at the whole panel may snap some of the push-fit plastic clips. A long trim tool gives much more precise leverage. All the metal fasteners have a Torx head.

You'll need to remove the plastic trim below the boot lid slam panel before you start on the side panels. Also remove the rubber seal around the boot aperture. From memory you have to remove the upper panel (light coloured one in my photo) as well. Removing the seats will ease access for this job.

There's some metal screws to remove, some hidden by rectangular caps (shown by the smaller arrows in the photo).  One is tucked away behind the hooked luggage shelf support (larger arrow). Seem to remember a few metal screw fasteners, too, but these become obvious as you progress with the job. I also recall taking some of the floor panels out as well. Once these have been removed you can start carefully unclipping the push-fit clips with the trim tool. It's all a bit awkward but do-able.

Hope this helps!

Thank you @CrimeaRiver thats a great help! Just one thing how do you remove the hooks that are arowed? Do they twist or just pull out. I had a quick look but don't want to force them.

I seem to remember that after you've removed the screw that holds the hook in place you can only then remove the hook after the panel is lifted out.  It's really easy to forget to reverse this when you reassemble everything resulting in having to partially remove the panel to refit the hook!

Thanks @CrimeaRiver. I took the panel off today so i will list what i did for future reference.

First i removed the white pillar cover. Remove the cover labelled (airbag) to reveal the screw then it unclips and pulls down.

Next remove the trim from the boot lock area. 2 screws hold it in place then there are 2 clips at the far sides in the boot (pull out) and 2 clips and 2 locating screws on top (this should lift up).

With that removed it will reveal 3 screws all torx.

Unscrew the the pull down hook.

Lastly is the 2 lugs. Remove the cap covering the screws and remove. These screws are ALAN key not torx.

The panel should then pull away popping out the clips holding to in place.

Refitting is the reverse20210914_123340.thumb.jpg.c9fb229a3e8ded4a2637b2c7b4240ac6.jpgpillar screw20210914_123444.thumb.jpg.2a9e42d3abda0ea28b62fdd9f639e1a4.jpg2 of the 3 screws revealed. The other in the boot20210914_123548.thumb.jpg.3f8f5e9b8a2ade59457b6a36c496dae4.jpgx2 alan key screws

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Just out of curiosity, what job are you doing?

Hi @NZ100

I fitted some parking sensors and wanted to fit the control box and all the wiring behind there out of the way!

Nice one Gavin. We can all sleep well now.😉 Did you get it all done OK?

Sorry, new to the group and I’m probably breaking some kind of rule for jumping on an old post, but HOW do you remove the upper pale coloured panel? Is there a trick to it? I worry about using brute force and breaking something.
