Door Mirror

Recommended Posts

Hi all looking for help, have 2005 mark 2 and a guy crashed into me completely smashed mirror in half to where it's hanging on by the cable. Thing is the aluminium cast snapped too, part on the mirror part on the door . I'm not sure if the cast is made into the door or mirror? Not sure if I need new door or mirror can anyone help thank you.

AFAIK the alloy bracket is all you should require if everything else is intact or can be repaired.

I suspect your cheapest option would be a complete unit from a breaker, colour irrelevant if your fairing is good to swap.

Thank you, I didn't know if the alloy bracket was built into the mirror itself or bolted to the door . The mirror itself is not operating at all,  it was just someone told me that the alloy was made into the door but that's a relief I don't need new door.

If you remove the plastic trim at the window you should see how the bracket attaches and make decisions based on your findings.

You may however need to access the wiring in the door as the wires/connectors may be damaged/dislocated.

If required, I would probably tie a piece of cord to the existing wire at the disconnected mirror, pull the door wiring bellows back and see if I could pull the mirror wiring through, make repairs and use the cord to pull the wires back to connect the mirror. although it probably won't be that simple.  Otherwise it could get quite involved.

There's only one way to find out!

If the mirror shape looks the same it should fit, just make sure it comes from a pre-face lift MK2, also check if you have puddle lights as I think the wiring for non puddle light ones will be different.  Any links to mirror you are buying?

Willydog that's the one there , I can't get same colour only from Skoda themselves, they want €150 consultant fee like I'm going to see a surgeon then the mirror itself which is €250 madness.
