Faulty Korean chips supplied to Škoda?

Featured Replies

How many Škoda drivers have experienced the need to do a factory reset in order to prevent unsubstantiated warning triangles from appearing or lane control and idle-stop from being implemented or disabled? OK, so I understand the various conditions that can influence whether the engine cuts out or not - but what if none of those conditions exist? I was told my my Škoda dealer that the Korean microprocessor that governs these events is not fit for purpose and that this is well known within VAG.

My 2019 Scala is excellent in most respects but is very low mileage and not due for another service for some months, at which point it has been suggested that this particular chip will be replaced....

In the meantime, would any Škoda/VAG engineer reading this like to shed any more light?

"I was told by my Skoda dealer..........(insert random BS here)..................."

The forum swear filter should be programmed to insert the above whenever it detects "I was told by my Skoda dealer/the mechanic/the service receptionist"

Why on earth should this matter when no names are mentioned but where a potentially valid reason for such faults has been suggedted?

There are some tales told at Skoda dealerships by unnamed people that actually should be named.  Just so that there could be a Journalist go talk to them and see where they get their information.

Presuming the journalist in question has a Škoda, reads Forum posts and,  given the number of similar issues, attaches any credibility to my comments, I would have thought this would have provided him or her sufficient incentive to establish their veracity....  not that this was my intention in making my foray in to the world of Škodas !

There are Motoring Journalist / Vloggers / Youtubers that are Briskoda Members and that drive modern Skoda.

Maybe they might just notice this thread.

This link that a member posted in another thread on chips in vehicles might interest some.

Sounds a bit Racist to me blaming chips from South Korea...

I mean if it's samsung blame them (Doubt it is).

If it's another company name them.

Or you might think it's just a particular dealer trying in their own way (which looks a lot like racism) trying to make people doubt the korean car manufacturers.

Kind of like people did skoda a few years back.
