Roof rails big scratch

Featured Replies

Hi, sadly the garage door came down on our 2021 Karoq Sportline last night and took paint of about a 15cms stretch of roof rail, about 1cm wide.

I am unsure how to get this fixed. I have looked up removing the roof rails and and it seems you need to unbolt them from the inside of the car and this can be difficult and may void warranty.

Should I just take it into a panel beaters?

Thats if they could re-spray them and do it  without removing them.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Chips away have done a good job for me on minor scratches in the past.

Obviously the skill of the operative is the important factor here, not the name of the Company.

Chipsaway did a perfect repair for me on a bumper, rubbed along a brick wall.  As stated the skill of each franchise operator will vary but they guarantee the repair and on my car it was still perfect after 3 years.

Chips away or similar shouldn't cost too much either a couple of phone calls and get some quotes or ask about in your area for recommendations, as others have said the operative is the key, most dealers use this type of repair as they come to you and are cost effective.

Welcome!  As others say - but try a couple of Chipsaway places - they can vary.  Some operate it as a sideline to their larger bodyshop business and if you go direct to their premises to get a quote it could be worth it.

If it's just paint and possibly some filler needed they might be able to be fixed without removal.
