Oil Leak

Featured Replies

Hi, i have today bought a 2003 Fabia estate for my son, it has covered 121k and has extensive service history.

when I arrived home with her from the 2hr journey, later a small oil leak could be seen on the road inline with the driver front corner/light (thought it was diesel at first as it below filter area).

Atm the tray is on and is wet in that area.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a possible common cause before i get under on the weekend and remove tray to inspect.

Thanks inadvance

Todd

If the tray is on, it could be coming from anywhere and travelling until it drips. Front corner suggests from the front of the engine somewhere though.

Also what engine is in the car?

Ah ok that narrows things down a little.

There might well be an intercooler situated behind the driver's side front bumper, if that's the case then the pipes going to it might be leaking from the joins. There is a cut out in the under tray section of the wheel arch liner for said pipe so you can have a quick look underneath and see instantly.

As @HeavyMetalRich says; I wondered about that before I even found out the car is a TDi. BTW, easy fault diagnosis is why it helps to put your engine type, and transmission in the model details in your profile.
