Flashing screens on start up

Featured Replies

Hi.  Just bought a 2015 SE Business 1.6 diesel.  Overall am very pleased but...When I turn the key in the morning after it's been sitting overnight the screens flash and the starter motor takes a few seconds to bring the engine to life.  Hasn't done it any other times, just in the morning.  Any thoughts/info would be gratefully received.

Welcome.

Check the tightness of the battery terminals but it looks like soon you need to replace the getting on for 7 year old battery if it has the original one.

Best have the battery tested.

Wait for a few seconds before activating the starter. Get in, switch on and then fasten your seat belt before trying to start the engine.

Mine did similar with a 4 year old battery so I replaced it. It's like night and day when turning over now. Also the start stop kicks in all the time now.

Battery issues - replace battery (and get it properly coded in)

Thanks for the tips guys.  It's going for a new cambelt and water pump on Saturday so I'll ask my garage to check the battery health whilst it's in.

Hi again.  Garage advised battery too long in the tooth.  140 quid for a new one on Saturday.  Thanks again for super accurate advice.
