Alarm going off randomly - got some fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I assume there must be plenty of these posts below but I cant find them. My yeti's alarm is going off at random times now for no reason. I have checked the main battery of the car and that seems to be fine (reads over 12V when ignition is not on). Ive subscribed to Carista for one month and it has given me the following error codes - 9481988 - Air Quality Sensor - Internal System Fault, 01134 Alarm Horn (H12) and 03156 Sensor for Warning System Theft.   Does this sound like the back up battery in the alarm unit is going funny? To my knowledge it has never been changed and my yeti is a 60 plate and done 80,000 miles.

Yes that does point towards that, I would have thought the battery would be replaceable (my motorcycle has similar and that has a NiCad 9v PP3) but from the searches I've done it has to be replaced.
On my motorcycle it has to be a high charge to get anything into the alarm battery, short trips will not do much to keep it up to scratch.

To discount the interior sensors press the button at the bottom of drivers "B" pillar or a double press within 2 seconds when locking the car.

Ive tried the button on the B pillar to check it wasnt something moving within the car setting it off, that had no luck. I do tend to do too many short trips in the car now. From any searches I've done it sounds like the whole unit has to be replaced but I cant find the instructions how to do it.

Different car but I had the alarm going on intermittently while caravanning, it turned out to be the bonnet alarm switch.

It had cracked and gradually broken completely, the process of breaking up caused the random alarms.
