Keys not working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. My Kodiaq went into the dealers, about a month ago for a new mechatronic and other bits. When it went in, I had 3 functioning keys. I kept the main key and gave the dealer one of the smaller ones. When the car returned after 3 weeks, the two keys, I kept no longer worked.  The red led lit up when a button was pressed, but that was it. I tried synchronising them, as per the owners manual and changed the batteries, but they still don't work. Just wondering is there anything else i can try, because i really don't want to see the dealer again for quite a while!

Possibly the key you gave to the dealer has been repaired with the car? When I received my third key from the dealer (owed cos they cocked up the spec) I had to take all three keys in because pairing one unpairs all others, if not all done at the same time. AFAIK repairing is a dealer only operation.

So you think the Dealer may have caused the problem by unpairing the 2 keys, i kept at home? Does that mean they will rectify the issue without charge?

If the unpaired them, without asking you, they effectively took a car in with 3 working keys, and returned it with one working key.

I would expect them to sort it, free of charge, because it is something they have chosen to do.  First step is to phone service department and find out what they have done (and don’t accept being fobbed off by a receptionist who doesn’t want to look at job sheet)

As above.  The dealer “broke” the keys. So the dealer must fix the keys.

Doesn’t matter what he did. Doesn’t matter what he says.

He has to fix it.
