Gearstick rattle in neutral

Featured Replies

So since getting my vRS (06 plate, 1500miles) i have had this slightly annoying rattley geatstick when i am in neutral - it happens say 70% of the time (not every time i am in neutral) and is just a slight rattling of the gearstick that will go away if i nudge the stick abit.

Im sure i saw someone mention it a while back on here, but dont know what actually happened about it. The Furby is going to the dealers soon for the seats to be sorted...so i could mention it then if anyone thinks its an easy fix?

Thanks :) :thumbdwn:

Well covered, try a search.

I have this rattle too and your'e right a slight nudge and it's fine. Also a rattle on the passenger speaker fascia. think I may have to get it booked in!

still fantastic car.

Well covered, try a search.

I did search earlier without much luck, basically some threads seem to contain posts where someone mentions they have it - but i cannot find anything like if they had it sorted, what the problem is, etc, etc.

Im likely to be wrong - so would welcome some links to threads that answer my question.

here

I searched and the dealers have new parts to fix this. Apparently if left, it can go away after a couple of thousand miles.

I may wait not sure

Evening Guys

Had the same problem with my 06 Vrs, whilst getting it downloaded for the stuttering fault that comes free of charge with all 06 models:mad: I mention the gear stick rattle, at firt the technician was a bit vague but then he spilled the beans on the subject.

Basically he said all new Vrs's come with the modified cables, but the part that actually rattles is on the gear box end where they join the selector arms! these have not been modified :thumbdwn:

He said they remove the ends and place a plastic washer underneath which only take a few seconds, and yes it works, its been rattle free since:thumbup:

He said that Skoda UK do not reconise this as a fix, maybe they should take more notice:rolleyes:

Cheers

Thanks for the info Cuprawaa, ill mention what you said when i am next at the dealers...do you have any more detailed information i should mention when i am explaining what your dealer did to fit it, or do you think mentioning the washer they fitted would do?

I would think thats all you need to mention :handshke:

Next time you look under the bonnet have a look at the gear cable ends, Get hold of them and feel how much movement there is ( they are square blocks with a hole in the middle and held on by a clip on the top) all they have done is take out the vertical movement, which stops it chattering:thumbup:

Hope this helps

Ps where abouts are you in the South East?
