Wet clutch

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2019 superb3. A friend at work mentioned a wet clutch for dsg and I haven’t got a clue what it’s all about. Could someone please explain.

 Thanks

DSG,s can be 7 speed twin dry clutch so a DQ200 as used on FWD cars with no more than 250 Nm.  So basically 1.0, 1.2, 1 4, 1.5 or 1.8 TSI,s or 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6 diesels.  Not on AWD,s or 2.0 TSI or TDI,s.      Wet clutch 6 or 7 speed are fitted to those.  ? What engine does your car have?   Dry clutch have no service schedule or guidelines for oil change.  Wet clutch DSG do require oil changes.

Wet clutch simply means the clutch packs are submerged in oil to prevent overheating and allow additional torque

And use 1 oil which is for the box and the MCU.    Dry clutch DSG has 2 oils, in the box and another oil used for the MCU and the oils and clutch plates do not meet.

Thanks, my car is 1.5   7speed

That'll be a twin dry clutch then. Mention it to your colleague and see what his response is.

Hi guys what clutch is in mine....2020 150ps 2.0 diesel estate auto.

Because it is a 2.0 it will not be a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG as pointed out in the 2nd post, that means it will be a wet clutch DSG.

So will it need servicing any time soon , I have only had it 7 months and its done 11k in total.

The Oil change is due at 40,000 miles or sooner if you want.

It is not due at 4 years even if Dealership staff tell you it is or this might lead owners to believe.
