Chck battery voltage and check fluid level.

Hi had a new battery put on two months ago garage checked fluid level today and for any leaks but everything ok power steering went heavy again after being in the garage starting to get annoying any other ideas thanks. Adrian:confused:

Did they check the system for faults?

I assume it is a hydrolic system ! if so, my guess it is the pump, or the rack, but my bet its the first.

Its electro hydraulic.

Car has one week left on warrenty phoned warrenty company they told me to phone nationwide autocentre which they deal with. phoned autocentre guy didn't seem that bothered booked it in for thursday fingers crossed they find a fault still don't understand why the warning light hasen't come on.:confused:

Sometimes they dont with sensor faults. Needs plugging in and checking out.

Thanks for info let you know what's happening after the visit to the garage the sensor fault you are on about is it the power steering sensor iv'e noticed mentioned in a few topics on the forum thanks.

Yeah its pretty common. If it has a plastic end on it its the old sort and should be upgraded to the latter metal ended one.

Hi had the car back from the garage today still no joy with problem i'll have to wait for something to go wrong before they can check for a problem only thing they said was that there could be mostiure getting into the sensor with all the rain we have had anybody heard of this thinking of changing the sensor myself:(

Yep, its why they modified the sensor to one with the metal end on instead of plastic.

How much is the sensor any idea and how easy is it to fit did have a look under the car when it was on the ramp but didn't have much time to have a good look at it.

Around £75, not difficult to fit but you really need it on a ramp and the wiring for the sensor goes around the car to the pump on the n/s/f.

interesting i have the same model and year fabia as you and my steering keeps feeling heavy too! its a shame you havent found the problem as i am baffled as to what might be causing it!

Yes ta, but you need it on a ramp to do so really.

Why not ask the people that make manuals? The Haynes one is out in december.

Hi to all you skoda drivers had the power steering sensor changed last week it is ok now but my ecp light came on yesterday no brake lights ordered a brake light switch from dealer pick up tomorrow. hope that's the last thing for a while.

Did you get the car checked for fault codes ?

Hi skoda drivers my mate just fitted the brake switch EPC light gone out know after driving it for about 20 minutes strange the car seems more responsive and smoother.
