Timescale for delivery from dock to skoda branch

Featured Replies

Hi team

We got notified 2 weeks ago that our Kamiq was good to go and was just waiting on the ship to the UK and the car will be available for pick up on Tuesday 30th November. I called the local skoda branch this morning only to be told that they are still waiting on the ship bringing the car over. Nightmare!

How long does it usually take for the ship to bring the cars over?

How long did you guys wait?

Cheers

Our Karoq was in Emden for just over 2 weeks. If you look on a shipping tracker, you should be able to see ships leaving Emden to either Sheerness or Grimsby. They are usually a 'Highway' where the first part is the name of a German river. Isar and Neckar are two I've seen.It could be up to 5 wweks from arrival at port to pick-up. Ours, for some unknown reason was at the dealer nearly 2 weeks before collection.

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered a Kamiq SEL with lots of options in mid August. Just had an email today from dealership to advise "it is currently at the port of exit in Germany and has been released for shipping. From this stage it is usually around 3 weeks, but of course Christmas may affect this

I will continue to keep an eye on the progress for you, I am out of the dealership for a few days and will be able to contact you again on Saturday, 18th December, where I will be in contact with an update on the progress at that time."

Well 3 weeks is 29 December so I probably won't get to pick it up until after New Year.

I got a call from the dealer on Sunday saying the car was still waiting on the ship but they have 3 arriving this month. One due on the 7th December and another 2 next week. She promised me the car will be on one of these ships so we'll see what happens.

I have had a call today to say my Kamiq has arrived today at Sheerness and that I should be able to have it by the end of the month. Should be getting more info from the dealer next Saturday. Strange but they have already emailed me the Registration number.

So yours has arrived already then? What the hell is she talking about with the 3 dates she gave me. I think she's just talking a load of mince to keep me quiet.

When did you order and what options ? Mine was 16/8/21. 1.0 TSI 110 SEL Manual , Front Sensors, rear view camera, adaptive cruise, heated steering wheel,  heated front seats, USB-C by rear view mirror and Blind Spot detection. Negotiated over £2000 discount and got the £2500 finance deposit allowance.

If you are in Scotland, then probably need a ship going to Port of Tyne, some do Sheerness (Kent), Grimsby (Immingham, Humberside), and Tyne, but some ships do not also call at Tyne as volume there is lower.   These ships can take thousands of cars so not going to schedule a ship to drop off just a few hundred cars.

Normally you then need to wait for a road transporter, which means need dealer to be receiving multiple cars.   If you are long way from the Port it might be beyond a round trip within a days driving hours which means you need one of limited number of trucks where driver can rest.   The general lack of cars means nowadays more likely to be waiting for other cars to fill the truck than awaiting for a spare truck.

In my experience most seem to leave port early hours and arrive at dealers from breakfast time onwards (presumably to miss traffic, and coincide with dealer opening hours).

But really your dealer should be able to work out which cars they are expecting are at a port or on a ship.   There is another thread where a service Dept hasn’t got any available bookings for 5 weeks (I think it was Yeovil), but imagine having to wait 5 weeks for a PDI as wasn’t booked in as didn’t know when cars arriving.

Just had a call from Dealer to advise my Kamiq has arrived with them today and I could pick it up on Saturday but its been built without one of the options- Blind Spot detection. Annoying  to say the least. Any advice? Take it and obviously I will get £560 back or reorder and wait at least another 4 months ? I just worry that I'm cursed now and and without it I will have have accident that Blind Spot may have prevented me from having 😞

Did you have blind spot detection in previous cars if not did you have an accident

Haven't got it in my current car a Kia Picanto but it was standard in the previous car to that a Toyota C-HR which was shockingly bad visibility wise over the shoulder due to the rear pillars and small rear windows unlike the Kamiq. I got rid of the CHR after I was rear ended whilst stopped. No safety feature  stops someone going in the back of you 😆
