Good afternoon.

 we have a 2008 Octavia diesel that has developed a fault with the instrument light.

 

The symptoms are that the lights are almost constantly out, but do occasionally come on back for a mile are so before going out again  - so an intermittent problem and not likely to be a fuse.  All the gauges function okay, its just all the dashboard lights that go off.

 

I have gone round in circles on google.. it appears it is usual for the gauges to stop working at the same time though.

 

My current plan is to get the cluster out and send it off to either revtronic or cartronix for a full overhaul in the £150 price range.

 

Has anyone here direct experience of the service and results offered by either company, or any other constructive thoughts?

Check the dimmer switch operates correctly, it may just need a good workout.

well, that was embarrassingly simple. Gave the dimmer control a good exercising, and the lights are working fine again.  Happy days.
