Idle speed 2.0 VRS

Recommended Posts

Mine idles at 1000 too. Not sure which modes but certainly in Comfort mode.

Could just be the way the electronic rev counter works. Might be incapable of showing a value below 1000?

I noticed it but never thought of it as a problem.

Well, 1000 doesn't seem alarming to me. On my previous car it was (when connected to a diagnostics tool) around 870 and the rev counter showed 900. So basically a 100rpm difference could be due to the fact that they are using low-friction oil these days and are ramping up the rpm to increase lubrication on idle.

Guessing that Dave's idles at 1000 too, it cannot be due to the outside temperature. :)

It will idle bit faster when certain conditions are met, can’t remember them all but includes : first few minutes until GPF is upto temperature, if electric heating (eg back window, mirrors etc) is on, if a/c cooling of cabin is required etc

Weird it certainly seems to idle at 1000 apart from a) on the choke first thing, b) in DSG sport, c) neutral seems to go down to 800, just a bit random. Seems chugging away unnecessarily. I suppose it should be stopped started but don’t use that it just kills the battery long term.
