Sawtoothing type noise

Featured Replies

So. Hot on the heels of my locking wheelbolt problem, I notice my 2010 L&K has the hallmark noise of sawtoothing which is more apparent at under 15mph, and at the moment, the tyres are that new, ( Michelin Cross Climates all round.) that no obvious evidence is apparent, so it's off to the local Hunter alignment centre to be done at a cost of £90 plus vat.

What sort of price is the normal on this?

All well and good, but no price as you go through it, and I wouldnt trust Kwik Fit with a Corgi car.

If you want to pay for alignment when it's perhaps already within tolerance it's your choice.

I was only suggesting a free check before putting the cart before the horse.

Sadly KwikFit often 'all the gear and supposed training and no idea'.   Then as for the Area Managers and the complaints procedure is a total joke.

Free Checks and paid adjustment and then going to a proper trained person who knows the scores on the doors is pretty common.

Some tyres are more/less susceptible.

Ok, which kwik-fit branches both have a Hunter rig, and have at least 2 members of staff properly competent in its use?

Sorry about that. Didnt wish to appear flippant. Past experience with Kwik Fit.

I'm no fan of the outfit despite being Scottish, just trying to save you £90 plus vat is all.

Happy motoring and let us know the outcome.

OK. Sorry for the delay on this guys, but it was something so simple and funny at the same time.

So. Had the Hunter alignment done, and although not a major adjustment needed, it was out of alignment.

Had the wheel swapped back to front. No joy.

turned out it was the nsf inner wheel arch liner that had come adrift and was rubbing on the tyre!!!!! lol. A cheap and easy fix.

Now we have noise no more.
