Octavia Saloon

Featured Replies

Hi All

New here to the Forum but been sitting on the sidelines for a bit. Also new to Skodas and i must say that I'm really pretty impressed. !!

So my original car (RAV4) was written off in a no-fault accident, I've been given an 1.5 petrol Octavia estate (Auto) as a hire car.

After driving it for an hour I liked it, after a week i really liked it, after 2 weeks i wanted one !! (just not as an estate edition.) So i cant afford a new or nearly new one so i began my search.

Eventually turning up a Mint condition Black 2014 1.4L  Octavia Saloon in DSG Auto with 47,000 on the clock, black leather which seems to have every extra available included !

Just about in budget at £10.5 k which seems about right in the current market.

I've a deposit on it, and I've driven it it feels tight on the road and nicely "pointy" but i couldn't really stretch its legs too much as its in London....

Paperwork is all there but a new CamBelt is being recommended which i find strange at just 47000 miles. Anyone have any thoughts on this..?

So what are the know bugs and issues with the 2014 plate (there must be some) what should i expect to go pop \ look out for. Or otherwise advise my mechanic to change as a precautionary measure.

Let me know what you think !

Cheers

P

Welcome.

If a FMDSH or FSH what does it show actually done?

Has it been on Fixed Service / Annual Servicing or Variable / flexible?

Have the spark plugs been changed in the past 6/7 years.  They might best be replaced if no record.

The Brake fluid at least once.   That needs done if not or at least the fluid tested.

Look at the Air filter and see the condition.  Change if required.

Look at the Pollen / Cabin filter and replace if required.

The DQ200 DSG does not require servicing / oil changes.

Maybe Service Campaign '34H5' was done since 2017 or needs doing, a Software Update',  check with Skoda UK or a main dealership.

On some cars 2013-2015 with a DQ200 DSG.

PS

The Cambelt advice will be given because the car / engine is over 5 years old regardless of mileage.

3 Main dealer stamps

Yes to filters

Yes to plugs

Fluids not listed assumed checked changed under service will check.

+ Pads

+ Disks

+ a Coil pack

Like i say is flagging the Cambelt ..?

Have put the VIN in to the below and it shows clear

http://recall.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com

Its Petrol so not affected by the Software issue.

The Brake Fluid is not changed usually at Services unless paid extra for and maybe not even with a 'Service Plan',  Main dealership techs do not routinely check for H2o content.

The VIN Checker might not show all Service Campaign / Recall Actions when using a VIN, or the action might have been carried out.

Check that if interested.  Only started in 2017 and lots of cars with a DQ200 have been missed, even Skoda Approved Used Cars or Main Dealership used cars.

The DSG is what i am posting about, 7 speed twin dry clutch.

Preventive measure with the software update.  As fitted to 1.4 TSI / Petrols & 1.6 TDI's.

I never posted the link to the Skoda Recall Actions  because of the TDI Defeat Device Cheat Fix.

Cambelt is done due to the age of the belt - its either 5 years or roughly 100000 miles.

ah Thanks for that so yeah a bit early for the Cambelt then.

I guess i need to call a Main Dealer to check the below, if its not showing up on the website checker.
