Lacquer peel

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have lacquer peel?

My 2010 L&K, started to peel on the bonnet, drivers door mirror, and around the front wheel arch, recently, after going to a hand car wash. Although I can't prove they caused it, it seems to be a lot in my opinion.

Is it a Skoda thing that they put it on very thinly?

@Quinny1

Have you had your car since new so know that it is the factory finish?

If you have then not much wrong with the lacquer that was applied over 10 years ago until now.

Very very likely the hand washers have caused it with whatever product they use?

Some cleaner meant for other industrial use and too strong a concentrate mix.     Likely a product for brake dust removal on trains or machinery.

A 2 1/2 year old Skoda.

Not common.

Sadly not owned the car from new. Only had it 2 months and I know it is the car wash but can't prove it.

Looks like a new coat will need to be applied.

Funnily enough, it is the same colour as the one in your link.
