Clunk at front wheel when turning up ramp in multi storey car park with my Karoq-any ideas please?

Featured Replies

I have a year old Karoq and every time I go up a ramp in a multi-storey car park there is a clunk from the right front wheel when it is on full lock as I turn up the ramp. Has any one had a similar problem please and if so any suggestions what this might be? Thanks

First thing would be to check the wheel nuts are all tight. Then I would be looking for rubbing marks on the inner wheel arch liners, contact with them can sometimes sound like a suspension clunk. Sometimes.

Really the best way to check your suspension is to get both sides of the car jacked up ( on an MoT testing lift would be ideal) and check all the suspension joints then turn the steering to full lock either direction and get a lever in to work the joints again.

Realistically, it's probably one of those things you won't be able to replicate and will only ever do it in that particular set of circumstances.

I hope this helps.

Step for several hints!

Like widdershins or anti-widdershins ramp, is the clunk associated lock going on, coming off, or indeed with the ramp rather than the steering?

Also check the boots on drive shafts, although these tend to produce a screech rather than clunk on full lock if catching and making a noise.  The cure is usually to spray some silicon lubricant.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at that.

Ken, the clunk only happens going up the ramp. On full lock on the street for example there is no noise. Thx

Well if it's linked to the ramp, I find myself wondering about a broken spring, probably right up at the pig tail.

It's still under warranty book it in to get checked, mine did something similar it was a a dry bush sorted under warranty.
