Dash light

Featured Replies

Can you please help. The dipped beam light is dim on the cluster yet all the other are bright any ideas. All the lamps are working nothing is out Just the green light indicating the lights are on is dim?

Probably just a failing LED.

So my dash dimmed beam light has gone now how hard is it to fix?

Thanks for any help

You'll need to pull the instrument cluster out, disassemble and solder another LED in to replace the failed item.

Not a big deal if you're handy.

There may be guides on here detailing parts required and method but YouTube is a great resource for DIYers.  The MkII Octavia seems to be left out in many procedures so anything on the VW Golf Mk5/Audi A3 platform is worth watching as it's essentially the same.

Could it just be a dry joint or is it more like it's popped? As you say it hard to find octavia 2 videos to watch at the minute I'm looking thought the forum for help 🤞

I have seen plenty of failed solder joints now that most electronics use lead-free solder.

I've also seen dodgy LEDs come back to life with the application of heat from the soldering iron.

Due to the work involved to gain access I would replace the LED rather than roll the dice.
