Rear Brake Discs

Featured Replies

Front and rear discs and pads need replacing on my 2019 Karoq, but a mate has said the electronic parking brake on the rear means its not a diy job?  My skills are basic but I've done discs and pads on previous cars with no issue.

Any advice?

Thanks

You require a diagnostic tool that can set brake service mode, which retracts the electric parking brake fully to allow rear pads and discs to be changed. OBD eleven, Carista and many other low cost tools can do this.

There are hacks to do it without the tool but I wouldn't waste my time or risk damage attempting this. The diagnostic tool will come in handy in the future anyway.

With the correct tool its very easy to change the rears as you don't even need to wind pistons back.

Front pads and discs are standard fare and should be easy to DIY

Did you mange to change the rear disks and pads.  Did you buy the Carissa tool to set the car in brake service mode?

was it and easy swap out. What tools did you buy to complete the job.  What were the torque settings if any?
