Multiregion'ing a DVD player.

Featured Replies

SWMBO has 3-4 region 1 discs and has said that our new DVD player must have the abiltiy to play them

Our 4 yr old Samsung is not progressive-scan so its going out the door.

I'm looking at the Yamaha DVD-S557 in silver as it'd look nice with my Yamaha AMP and has all the features I need and has had great reviews for this price bracket (

http://www.videohelp.com/ has reviews of DVD players as well as region hacks. The best hacks are at the hardware level, but these need doing by a pro and as such can be quite costly. Fortunately the company I got my Toshiba 220 from, did it for me for a nominal fee and also provided their own warranty :D

I've used codes via the remote on SWMBO's old DVD player but it got a bit tiring putting them in each time, so we bought a multi-region one as a replacement :D

I've used a remote code in the past for other DVD players without problem - only had to do it the once though - and not each time I put a DVD in.

There is a code here if you want to try it (at your own risk :) )

I've just used that to unlock my Samsung, worked first time, thanks for that

If you don't want your old DVD player I'd be happy to take it off your hands as I'm looking for a basic one.
