SKODA FABIA NOT STARTING

Featured Replies

Hi I have a skoda fabia 2006. I am a noob so need help . I drive to work.  Leave it and come back to drive home but on 2 occasions when its very cold I try and start the engine. And it either comes on for a second and turns off . Or jus infinitely chugs.

First time AA said change spark plugs , I did that then they said throttle body. I did that. I also replaced air filter and fuel filter and they said the battery was fine..... so unsure ????

I have to give it gas / use acceleration when turning key for it to start without failing. Does anyone know how to fix because mechanics don't know.....

Dude, gotta know what engine it is, can't help by guessing.

PLEASE HELP PLEASE ASAP DESPErate

My Fabia did this when the throttle pedal position sensor was dying, refusing to start sometimes unless the pedal was flat to the floor almost. A good second hand replacement can be had for £20 and if you don't mind taking a piece of lower dash off (online guide I will link later) then you can do the job yourself. :)

Replace the coolant temperature sensor for starters, it's cheap, quick and easy to do, just unplug it for now and try starting it.

How many miles has it done?

Does it run well once started, full power, smooth, with reasonable fuel consumption?

It needs to be scanned with a diagnostic tool to check for error codes. Might throw up a sensor issue, such as crankshaft or camshaft sensor. Check all wiring and connections.

Timing should be checked.

A specialist would be able to sort it.
