skoda fabia mk1 2005, drivers door central locking and alarm led not working

Featured Replies

Hi,

the drivers door has  just stopped locking using the remote on my car,

all the other doors and boot still lock/unlockwith the remote.

the drivers door locks/unlocks with the key,

which also operates the central locking on all the other doors and boot.

the alarm led does not work when locking the drivers door with the key.

all other functions ,interior lights ,electric door mirrors , are working as normal ,

the indicators all flash when using the remote to lock /unlock all the other doors and boot.

before i start dismantling doors .........

i was hoping a club member may have come across these specific working /not working characteristics and tell me where to look first  for the fault,

many thanks for any help you can offer

i assume there will be a connector?

is it easier to pull the rubber wiring gaitor back from the A frame side?

to get to the connector(s)

thanks again

There are a few connectors, but you probably don't need to undo them for a looksee.

The effort-saving trick is to pull the rubber boot off  the a-pillar with the white plastic frame it fits to.  (I've failed to do this in the photo below).

You do this by squeezing front and back vertical edges inwards; ideally simultaneously, but if that's not achievable, focus on getting the front (nearest front of car) edge free first, as then the rear (nearest back of car) edge is relatively accessible and easy.

If the rubber boot comes away from that frame, be sure to get the frame out before refitting things, as it's much easier to refit boot to frame out of situ, rather than in situ.

The frame has four catches, two each side, you can see one on the right side of this photo:
