just been looking through the security options in OSX and Spotted that you can encrypt your homefolder, anyone use this? Does it degrade system performance?

For the love of.......whom ever dont use it!

It takes time to shut down every time you want to as its recovering "lost" space. If you ever loose/forget you password its reinstall time rather than resetting it.

The final killer is that if you get to about 80% full on your hard drive you wont be able to turn file vault off as there isnt enough space.

So in summary i dont recommend it
