DRL'S

Featured Replies

Newbie here so apologies if this has been asked before.

2012 vrs drl's.

They come on when I turn on side lights and on dip/main beam as they should.  They do not come on when lights are in off position. This is the same regardless what way you have the switch under the steering wheel where you remove the little panel.

Is this how it is?  I thought they come on regardless of lights switched on or not.

yes supposed to come on with ignition, my guess is the switch is possibly faulty, have you tried "wiggling  /  switching it" a few times ?

To confirm, just remove plug from switch and connect wires, if lights come on, theres your answer.

@MutleyskyWelcome.

Maybe someone wanted to disable the DRL's.

When they come on with the Headlights on that is as Sidelights / Position lights not DRL's.

They are less bright as when DRL's with the ignition on and no rear sidelights no headlights.

?

If you turn the ignition off and the indicator stalk down it there one light to the front and one to the rear on and one registration plate light so on as Parking Lights?

Thanks guys. I think it's a faulty switch. When you put it in the 'on' position nothing happens but if you push it abit harder it gives a little click and drls come on but only if you hold the switch. If you let go it gives a little click and they go off. So it's prob not going all the way to make a connection.  Ordered a new switch and see what happens.

They should, but it's a non-issue since they're not compulsory once the vehicle's been registered.

They were never compulsory on MK2's because they were Type Approved before the DRL legislation in 2011.

But then not compulsory in 2014 with the Mk3 Fabia as they did not get new Type Approval.

Thats what happened to mine, the switch spring goes weak and won't hold connection, I first noticed mine going off over a speed hump, then playing with the switch it was easy to see why.

As I mentioned earlier, if you want them working now, just disconnect the switch and bridge the 2 wires together. The switch was removed in later vehicles anyway, probably because they realised it was rubbish.

What do you mean by this ?

No loss if they are not working really unless you are someone that is a fan of DRL's.

I thought this was obvious.

nope not to me, the DRL's are not compulsory, yes make sense,

Hint - it will have registration plates fitted.

ok, will try once more for an explanation as to what you originally posted, thats all I'm after, I know thats proving difficult............

You said :-

So, now I understand what registration is as I was obviously struggling..........., what the hell does that have to do with it being compulsory or not ?
