12 Volt Feed without using lighter socket??

Featured Replies

Just invested in a little gadget for my MP3 player that can run on a 12v feed.

I would quite like to hide the wiring and gadgetry in the glovebox out of sight and wondered if take a feed from somewhere other than the lighter socket?

My Mobile charger is plugged in there and don't want to have to plug & un-plug every time to swap over.

Bear in mind I'm not (that) technically minded.

I was thinking of fitting one to the lower dash on the drivers side for my tomtom

because I just hate having wires trailing all over the place.

I fitted a second ciggerete adaptor in Chrissi's car when we had it cause she had so many devices to plug in.

It was a bit of a pain to do as I had to remove the centre console. The location is very limited due to the shaping of it and the other stuff behind it but it was just behind the gear lever in the left side of it. I used a spring loaded cover on it the same as you find in the Elegance boot ones. The supply was then easily taken from the other lighter circuit.

If your device is music orientated then I would suggest that you want a switched live and that power from the back of the radio would be ideal for you.
