Featured Replies

Hi folks, new turbo actuator replaced a few weeks back. However turbo cuts out in reverse ? Fault cleared by local garage but seems to have come back? Sensor problem ? Can anyone advise ?

cheers

Heych

What was the error code?

You mean this problem happens when you select reverse gear?  I wouldn't have thought that when reversing there would be sufficient engine revs for the turbo to be generating any boost?

Hey up Derbyshirebod, partner took it into garage and the cleared fault but she didn’t grab the fault code.

So we drove about 3.5hours yesterday and when we parked it in reverse it suddenly lost its revs and wouldn’t go above 2000. It happened to me just parking a week previously. Engine light comes on and it’s like being in limp mode. Left it overnight and fine again the next morning

would the garage have kept the code ?

cheers !

I'm not sure you've got a turbo issue? You said you had the actuator replaced so there could have been an error code related to  that?  You might have a new issue?

You need to have the error codes read again.

Cheers for advice, I’ll get it booked in again 👍

Hi,

Sorry, I do not know the answer to your problem, other than guessing that the rewiring would have lead to some stress on a wire. Get the code and the garage to look at the actuator again.

Which engine do you have as a matter of interest.

Seems to be a daily occurrence people posting complex problems without saying which engine their car has and what fuel.........................

Is your vehicle petrol or diesel?

Does it refuse to rev above 2.5k at a standstill when engaging reverse gear or when the vehicle is in motion reversing?

The TDi's are rev limited to (usually) 2.5k until the vehicle is in motion to protect the transmission from drag starts.

It's hard to imagine a situation where you would want more than 2K or 2.5K RPM (assuming vehicle is diesel) before engaging the clutch in reverse or to want to drive in reverse above 2K rpm.

Mind you in my teens both I believed that both were compulsory 🤣
