Alarm issues

Featured Replies

Hi, recently my Octavia has been causing grief when trying to lock it. Often after about 30 seconds to a minute the alarm will go off (sometimes just the indicators start flashing but with no alarm sound). I can normally, but not always, tell the alarm is going to go off because the little red indicator light either stays lit solid after I lock the car, or it doesn't light up at all, instead of the usual regular flashing it used to do before this issue started. So far the only solution I've found is to keep unlocking and locking it again until the alarm doesn't come back on.

The dash lights for open doors/boot/bonnet all work when they are open, so I can tell everything is closed and presumably there are no issues with the door sensors? I've read on another forum that the alarm can start playing up if the battery is dying, but I've checked it and it keeps a good 12.3v so I assume that's not the issue? I've also tried pressing the button on the door pillar to disable the internal motion sensors but that hasn't made any difference. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The problem will be the internal Ni-cad battery inside the alarm module, disconnect the module as soon as you can & then decide whether to fit a replacement.

It is located under the RH front wheelarch behind the liner panel, it has a metal security cage but you will be able to either drill out the rivets or bend it out of the way to remove the unit or disconnect it.

Thanks! I'll have a look at this tomorrow when there's some daylight so I can see what I'm doing. Once past the security cage is it a simply a case of disconnecting the old module and plugging in a new one, or does anything need reprogramming after this? Car electrics certainly aren't my strong point!
