Infotainment "internet" app "could not start"

Featured Replies

Im unsure when this happen but i always get like "could not start" when trying to open shop app or any other "internet" related applications.

I have tried to do a factory reset which did not help but luckily i was able to login so it seems that it works some how but applications that needs internet keeps saying cant start.

Have any one have this issue before? i do have a appointment with the workshop, but wanted to see if someone have a easy fix instead of waiting 1 month,

Yep, it's discussed.
Search the Forum, I don't remember exactly the topic. You have to access the fuse box under the dashboard and remove 1 or 2 fuses fro a couple of minutes. You  put them back and you have your internet active in your car. Do you also have the "small globe" icon on the infotainment screen in grey instead of white?

I found some links for you:

I've had that problem twice.

  • Back in November '21 the Shop (the icon) disappered after the error "Unable to start app". (This was with software version 1806.)
  • I tried to restore factory settings but that did not help and I ended up not being able to register myself as the main user as the Shop app is missing and it is done through it.
  • After that I got a new MIB3 unit for my car as instructed by the Skoda and I was finally able to make my account as the main user once again as I used to.

Eventually..

  • January '22 came and I got hit by the same error once again.. (software version 1810) no more Shop app (or any other app which is available through Shop.. like Traffication or Calendar).
  • Skoda requested me to record a video of the issue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZWTiaD88Ho). The "Unable to start app" can be seen at 5:00 on video.
  • Since then I have visited the workshop couple of times and they do not have a clue about the root cause of the issue and neither does Skoda.

It is probably a software bug but getting it fixed is an another thing.

Thanks for the information, ye i know they have alot of bugs, the revers camera is one of them which seems to take ages to get fixed for some reason.

I only went with skoda instead of kia just because the brand family name with vw and audi, which i really do now know it was a mistake sadly as the system has have bugs from day one.

Its also funny thats some function was never ported to the skoda version from vw, they are able to use apple car play navigator in the dashboard but it is not possible with the skoda version which is a real miss.
